Thank you!

Thank you!

Thank you to those that voted for the library project!

Thank you to those that supported me at the polls.

Thank you to those that hosted signs for me, talked about me to friends and neighbors, and truly believed in me.

Thank you to those that corrected the misinformation and personal attacks made against me and my fellow Councilors.

Thank you to those that have sent encouraging words to me throughout the campaign.

Mainly, just a big, huge thank you.

It was a tough campaign, both for the Town and for me. I put my vision of what Amherst can be in the public sphere and you decided it’s a vision you support. One thing that struck me was that most of the candidate literature spoke of the same vision – a vision of vibrant downtown and village centers, affordable housing for all who want to live here,  reformed safety services that ensure all are safe in the community, and responsible spending to fix our infrastructure. What we differ on is how to get there.

It takes guts to put yourself out there, which is why I congratulate all candidates for having the courage and energy to run. I’m looking forward to getting to know the newly  elected councilors and moving on to the job you just re-elected me to do – working towards a better Amherst. I will be introducing legislation on a variety of issues and will work to find common ground with all of the candidates who won today, because I truly believe that we all want what’s best for Amherst.

I’m also looking forward to meeting and listening to you, my constituents. My email for town-related business is hannekem@amherstma.gov. I’d love to discuss your ideas and concerns or just answer any questions you may have.

Once again, thank you for your support and vote.

Warmly,

Mandi Jo
