My housing vision in less than 50 words
The League of Women Voters will be publishing their Election Guide in the near future. They asked Council candidates two questions, which each question having a 50 word response limit. Boy, is that tough. Here are my responses:
As a Town Council member, what needs of the town do you hope to address?
If re-elected, I will focus on addressing our housing affordability crisis, improving our roads and sidewalks, allocating our limited revenues to address our most pressing needs in a way that benefits the most residents, reaching our climate action goals, and moving the DPW and Fire Station projects forward.
What priorities will shape your vision regarding the future development of housing options in Amherst?
The 2025 Housing Production Plan will primarily shape my proposals addressing our housing affordability crisis. As a Councilor, I would focus on the zoning, including enabling the creation of “missing middle” housing; redefining apartment uses; facilitating infill development; and amending Inclusionary Zoning to encourage more low- and middle-income units.
